Browser of the Year
Which browser do you prefer when browsing LQ?
--jeremy |
I chose Firefox almost reluctantly. But it is still the one I use even after looking at alternatives.
I actually use 2
FF for normal stuff like email and banking Chrome for web browser games like http://thejigsawpuzzles.com/ |
It's Firefox for me. If correctly configured, it's the quickest and most secure browser in the world (the same applies to Linux as an OS). Anyway, I recently saw some malware specially for FF that are cross platform (aka they're also for Linux!!) - mainly adware, but who knows what's going to follow?!
Anyway, unless you're very permissive about who/what's allowed to install extensions in Firefox, you're quite safe with it. |
Opera for me.
I love Chromium but, it's fallen behind Firefox. I now use Firefox as my main but have Chromium as the back up.
I hate what Google has done, forcing you to their front page when you open a Chrome/Chromium browser. |

Chrome

Opera vs Chromium
I chose chromium, though my main browser is Opera.
Opera does currently not update their browser for Linux and many sites are falling over, like on-line banking. Key-driven navigation is unsurpassed in Opera, which is still my main reason to use it, but I have to use chromium more and more as sites cannot be used in Opera. |
It's still Firefox by a long shot for me.
Firefox because it is the best in my opion
Firefox is still most flexible.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who at first saw that one entry as Dildo.
Last year I'd have chosen Opera, but as the new Opera is not even available for Linux, I have to be realistic. I use Firefox and Chrome for different reasons. But now that the future of Opera seems a little shaky, Google seems to be better from a social view and I still trust Iceweasel for those special sites where security is a must.
Opera most definitely
Chrome, if only for its Flash player.
FF on my desktop, Tint on mobile.
Firefox it is! Though I am thinking of moving to chrome ....
I use Firefox still (mostly because of the addons I like)
Firefox with Vimperator. I like the quickmarks which provides a shortcut to frequently visited web sites.
Chrome seems to deal with memory management best, especially when a lot of tabs are open, and has a certain compatibility with pages I use. Firefox has great addons though. It is an easy fallback.
For a lightweight browser, I use D+. I also patched it so it can be used as a replacement for applications like dialog. So, it's not only good for quick browsing of the web, you can use it to provide a user interface for scripts.
My vote goes to Qupzilla. It is a relatively new product and when it is surprised me with it's performance and and it's layout. I think that it has a lot of potential to become even better in the near future.
Opera 12 was the best web browser that ever existed. It is becoming unmaintained now, although they promised security fixes.
From now on, I don't think I'll ever find such a good browser as Opera 12 :( |
Should I just hit FF or ask to add Nightly?
Firefox, no doubt!
Firefox rocks!
It's more open and free than Chrom* and much better on the addons site, way better! |
Fall in love with firefox...!!
Firefox is one for me..simple, customizable, and don't forget add-ons.
cheers for firefox...:newbie: |
Firefox for now, possibly Arora in near future if Firefox keeps trying to be more chrome like.
Firefox but Seamonkey was close
opera!
For me, it used to be Chrome. I switched from Firefox to Chrome shortly after Chrome came out. However, recently I switched back to Firefox. The reason for this is because I use Synergy between both my laptops almost constantly. Chrome doesn't work well with Synergy on the server side, therefore I was forced to use Firefox. Firefox, however, is much better than it used to be I think. I have very little issues with it, aside from poor flash performance (thanks to Adobe for dropping Linux support). So, I still use Chrome when I want to watch Hulu as flash performs better in Chrome, from my experience.
Fox for Freedom :-)
Occasionally during the hills of time I've use Add-ons, java or download mangers plus (now) VLC but for the most part the readme file in the flash-DL or this site: as e.g: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Determinin...ctory_on_Linux has been working well; it's all about the change and Nightly now supports backwardly to 32-bit so happy new year.
P.s: HULU, games,,, any* work fine here... http://noscript.net/ https://adblockplus.org/en/firefox |
Dillo.

I like Midori a little, and i use Opera occasionally too, but Firefox is #1, love it.
Honestly, all browser sucked this year. Firefox was on top, just before their ESR 17 version.

Firefox!
Again, I gotta dance with who brung me! :) Ric
Lynx
The old command line staple still blazes past the graphical competition, who have become too focused on other things besides browsing and information extraction as of late.
Firefox definitly rocks. I also use Dillo from time to time. (Netsurf is also cool).
I am using Firefox and Chrome equally, but I must vote for Chrome.
Opera
Firefox
Firefox
I liked Opera mainly in my mobile, but it is the same chromiun for bad or for good.... so it is a living dead browser/
FireFox
Firefox
I've used Firefox for a number of years now and like it a lot. I have tried Chrome and Chromium, but found them difficult due to the apparent lack of a menu. It seems one just has to know where things are? (Unless I missed a setting somewhere?) Anyway, I'm sticking with Firefox. Cheers all...
Chromium
Firefox. It gives me no trouble and I'm very used to it after many years.
