Wow, why so little xine?

If you see kaffeine, codeine, or klear (DVB-T) remember there's a xine backend.

VLc is cross platform player - TRULY to its name - Video LAN player. I used it in places where i cant install EXE files. Its plays almost all Files without codecs - that what i think it makes a great player - whether the OS os Linux or other

among othe things that were included in the poll , you can try gnome-mplayer ... its a simple player that i use often since a gui-ed video player cant be light-weight in linux ...

MPlayer with the Win32 codecs. You can't go wrong

alred 08-05-2007 12:36 PM

i find gnome-mplayer much lesser prone to crash when i only want a simpler player ...

other than gnome-mplayer ... ffplay use with rox filemanager is also very good ...

how can i get gnome-mplayer

oneforall 08-06-2007 05:32 AM

mplayer

simple player is mplayer/mencoder mplayer to play them and mencoder to make avi.mkv, ogg etc etc
konq or even mc in konsole I just double click and it opens the avi,wmv etc and hit f for full screen. my /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf has vo=xv ao=oss etc.
no need for any gui front end ;D althou I do compile it with --gui and have 4 skins but that in my build script and no big deal.:D
