mplayer is for me. . .

nice_indian 01-09-2005 09:04 AM

voted for xine but also like mplayer.:)

PSHLOS_007 01-09-2005 02:58 PM

Mplayer is THE player! I get a perfect video motion from divx/dvd on a celeron 333 with 64MB RAM while xine can't even play a divx on a 500mhz cpu.

LoungeLizard 01-09-2005 05:48 PM

Mplayer all the way!!! by far my favorite media application

insyte 01-13-2005 11:10 AM

The core media player .... ooops Mplayer for everything except when I want to see the DVD menu.

ankur_linuxfan 01-13-2005 11:37 PM

I use mplayer for video and "xmms with xmmplayer plugin" for audio....
mplayer plays almost any kind of file and the codecs work for every video type.....
but gmplayer is a bit painful....
I can't close the video window if I want to hear only audio.....doing so closes gmplayer itself....

I am really impressed with mplayer. Just look at mplayerplugin for Firefox! Hands down, the best plugin/media player for Linux to date.

KPlayer is by far the best

KPlayer (kplayer.sourceforge.net) is by far the best multimedia player on any platform.

It is based on MPlayer, and it plays video and audio equally well. It is very stable and featureful, and very easy to use.

Try it out and see for yourself. I have it set as default for all audio and video files.

Amirhossein 01-14-2005 01:23 PM

Xine. because of its high quality output sound...

djworld 01-15-2005 04:25 AM

Aaarrghh!!! WHERE IS KAFFEINE!!?? How can they have forgotten it? It's definately the best video player for Linux!

SciYro 01-18-2005 02:00 AM

acid_kewpie: yes, isn't that program just a front anyway?

anyways, mplayer for me ... soo many output options, i personally love aalib's output (black and white text output ... look cool, or if you want colored text, libcaca, but its a bit shaky i find) ... or a much of images, soo many options!

djworld: kaffine is "xine based" , i guess that means its a front end for xine?

galiza_ceive 01-21-2005 04:49 AM

mplayer one of the best apps i've never run

loren 01-28-2005 11:39 AM

Im curious as to why Real Player is not on the list, personally it wins my vote since it's the quickest and easiest for me to use

lun4tic 01-29-2005 04:32 PM

kaffeine with xine backend would be best because some video files run on mplayer but not very well on xine based players or xine itself.

So i vote for mplayer :D

Also the control of mplayer is best (arrowkeys)

FlyingSolo 01-29-2005 07:41 PM

Hey team, Xine plays everything I can throw at it.
It can create playlists that can be draged to the desktop and clicked. I can't work out how to do this with mplayer.
It does slow motion. mplayer, as above.
Xine's keyboard controls are easy to learn.
So for me, I guess it's XINE.
