Pros: It is fast, has the xfce-4 desktop, works well on most machines, can add extra software in a snap
Cons: The booting process asks misleading questions!

This is another of the 50MB card distros started by Damn Small Linux. Indeed, it is based on DSL and knoppix. It has hardware detection as good as DSL. However it has some nice additional features.
The desktop is xfce-4 - probably the best light weight window manager around.
The filer is Rox which is excellent
The default browser is Dillo.
Abiword is the word processor and it is a full version. It also has a nice collection of other software including nvi.

There is a simple fille which you can download to edit the iso before you burn it. After all many burn this into a full 700MB CD or CDRW! You can add some files, programs, MP3s, MPEGs into the CD simply by dropping them into the folders (labelled folder1, folder2, MP3,MPG etc.). You can add the following files into these folders as well llcd-1-0.4 and llcd-2-0.4 and the HDD install script. Then create the ISO with one command! Burn into a CDRW (less pollution!)

There are two special downloads called llcd-1 and llcd-2. They are each around 50MB in size. These compressed files can be added on to the running CD as mentioned above beforre burning.

Then, when the CD is running with the lovely xfce desktop, right click on the desktop and choose "cd-1" and click "mount". The file will be in /mnt/cdrom/folder1 . Click and in seconds you will have GIMP, Mozilla Firefox, ABS spreadsheet, M Player and several other programs running and in the menu system! Mount the second CD and you will have Open Office working too!

This has GREAT possibilities if we can add our custom files as well.

The only negative factor is that there is no gcc complier, therefore itis not possible to add new source programs on the fly. But you can apt-get.

To install to HDD you need the script you downloaded and burnt to the CD!

On booting up it asks some questions. One is if you have a usb mouse. Say NO to this even if you have one, and no to the other type of mouse too in the next question. This is because if you say yes, the mouse will NOT work! Knoppix part obviously recognises the mouse already, so the questions are superfluous.

No gcc compiler.

Very quiet forum and the author is a bit of a recluse :-)

Otherwise - WOW!

Highly recommended!
