Description: SystemRescueCd is a linux system on a bootable cdrom for repairing your system and your data after a crash. It also aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the partitions of the hard disk. It contains a lot of system utilities (parted, partimage, fstools, ...) and basic ones (editors, midnight commander, network tools). It aims to be very easy to use: just boot from the cdrom, and you can do everything. The kernel of the system supports most important file systems (ext2/ext3, reiserfs, xfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, iso9660), and network ones (samba and nfs).

Pros: comprehensive tool for fixing / checking / hacking filesystems, boot configs, dual boot, cloning / backing up / restoring linux and Windoze partitions
Cons: can't think of any one

I have a dual-boot system (win + FC1). have used SRCD to successfully back-up and restore win partitions (on same box AND to another box), backed up MBR and partition table. Tools mostly used: mc, partimage, bash, fdisk, sfdisk. I really appreciate this product and have successfully used each of the last 4 updates.

Pros: A superb piece of software
Cons: None that I can find

I have been downloading and trying out various flavours of Linux over the last couple of weeks.
One of them would not allow itself to be overwritten/replaced by another distro.

I was tearing my hair out for two days trying to get rid of that distro and get my hard drive back to the state that I wanted it to be. Then I came across this piece of software.

Oh deep joy!! Load it up, run qtparted and bye bye rogue OS and partitions.

I have used it twice now and it really is an excellent piece of software. Partimage is also available for the repair/restoration of partitions.

This is one download I will not be getting rid of - the CD takes pride of place on my computer workstation!!
