Description: "The Zorin OS team is proud to release Zorin OS 5 'Core' and 'Ultimate' which bring a lot of new and enhanced features to Zorin OS, our operating system designed specifically for Windows users. This release uses the GNOME 2.X classic environment instead of Ubuntu's Unity shell. We have included new features such as an installer welcome video, a new theme and updated artwork, simplified application names, updated software and many program changes to improve and simplify the user experience. We also include our innovative Zorin Look Changer, Zorin Internet Browser Manager, Zorin Background Plus (Premium versions only) and other programs from our earlier versions. Both Zorin OS 5 Core and Ultimate versions are available in 32-it and 64-bit editions. Zorin OS 5 'Lite', 'Educational', 'Business', 'Multimedia' and 'Gaming' editions will be released over the next few weeks."

Pros: Ubuntu sans unity!, easy transition for windows users, ability to play DVDs with out work
Cons: Slower liveCD then other distros I have used, lack of dock at install.

Zorin5 comes with all the stuff I install anyways on other distros! VLC, libdvdcss, Chrome, wine, etc
it's look changer provides ease of use (I prefer the windows 7 myself) and makes it easy for users switching to linux from the less-loveable OS's. When a style is changed it re-organizes the panel, the order of appearance when system is clicked, and how the target is reached. Zorin5 is using gnome by default which is a nice medium I think (not as big as KDE, and not as minimal as fluxbox). It doesn't come standard with a dock (such as AWN), but oh well, I can install that myself in either the package manager or the software center. And the liveCD runs alot slower then some other distro's I have used, But to be fair Zorin comes packed with a lot of extras. Overall I am happy with it, and not only would I recommend it, I have.

Pros: Lost of good software straight off the DVD
Cons: Slightly unstable gui

This review is of the 32-bit version of Zorin 5.2.

The DVD gives you an excellent supply of software from Ubuntu which all works. At least, Totem doesn't but you also get VLC and that does. Media codecs are included and all files, and a commercial DVD, played perfectly.

Apart from the large installation, the difference from Ubuntu is the user interface: a heavily customised Gnome 2. This is a lot closer to what Windows refugees will be used to than Ubuntu's Unity. It has a number of modes, imitating various Windows versions, and one is fragile. I frequently got a message "Menu has quit: do you want to restart?" Another reviewer had a similar problem. No harm was done, and the solution is to use a different mode.
