Pros: very smooth from intallation to daily usage.
Cons: no 64 bit yet; grub2

I updated from Mint 7 Gloria and found Mint 8 Helena to be just as solid and stable. Based upon Ubuntu's latest release Mint's team has worked out bugs and added their own special flavor of enhancements. This is an excellent distro for those who want to transition from the Windows op sys or for anyone who simply wants to install and get to work.
There is no Wubi available yet but is high demand and I would anticipate a resolution is not far off. I run a multi-boot with Vista, Win 7, Fedora 12, and Opensuse 11.2 with no problems at all. (3 internal HDD)
There is an excellent support community with active forums and information exchanges.
All in all Mint is totally just works!

Pros: excellent beginner distro
Cons: poor default menu - I restored standard gnome menu

I was looking for a distro for a friend's XP laptop as an alternate boot. Installed it on my 60G Toshiba laptop with XP, Debian(my main), and Kubuntu to try it before I loaded it on his. So far I like it a lot and will use it for him as a newbie. I think it is a good choice to get acquainted with Linux.
