Pros: Concise, good for newbies, helps with install, diagnoses common problems
Cons: Doesn't go too in-depth, doesn't explain what's wrong (just how to fix), only talks about GNOME

This is what got me into Linux. I knew Linux was free and all but I was afraid I would be lost and confused without a hardcopy guide that would tell me what to and how to do it. This did just that. Although I don't use Red Hat anymore, the information this book gave me helped me through thick and thin. I also liked the way it was written, the author's treated me like a normal person, not a retard or an uber-geek (excuse the lack of the umlaut). They would also show the GUI way and the CLI way (Burning CD's in the CLI!?! OH BOY! :D). I would definitely recommend this to someone curious about Linux, but afraid to just download something and cross your fingers. However, if you are more advanced (read: not a dummy) don't waste your time.
