Keyboard shortcuts
I'm using Zorin OS9.

I'd like help in figuring out how to map a keyboard short cut.

First, I'd like, when pressing the Windows/Super key, to bring up the Zorin menu.

Second, I'd like to know which short cut to use to being up *Search applications. I'm accustomed to using alt-F2 in KDE.

As far as I can tell there is nothing in Zorin like, say in Ubuntu, that brings a pop-up to list of short cuts. In Ubuntu, I'm accustomed to holding the alt key down in Ubuntu to see that.

I threw Zorin into VirtualBox. It looks as if this is where you go:

Menu-->System Tools-->System Settings-->Keyboard-->Shortcuts.

I saw that, too. I can't figure out how to map a shortcut the Zorin menu to the Windows/Super key, though. Search is mapped to alt-F2, but that doesn't work for me.

I have no idea either how to do enter it either, because I don't know what the keyboard command to open the menu is. Perhaps a Zorin user (I'm not one) will solve our puzzlement.

Apparently the active, knowledgeable members of Zorin's own forum know about this and are stumped.

Oh, well... It has such a nice graphical user interface. That implementation of AWN is second to none among panel/docks. Too bad. I can't give up the keyboard navigation, so I guess I'll fall back to trusty Ubuntu. :(

I think you and I found the same thread.

I played about with Zorin today to see whether I could a keybinding or terminal command to launch the menu; nada, zilch, nothing.

Thanks for trying. It is annoying that the keyboard support is absent.

I imagine it must have something to do with AWN. It occurs to me that shortcuts might work if you use the look changer to change to GNOME. I think that look change might only work in the "Ultimate" version of the OS. Have to shell out ten pounds sterling or something like that, or delve into the dark web for a download, just to see if that would work. Switching to a GNOME classic look kind of defeats the purpose of choosing Zorin, though. I can have that look in any distro.

I'm comfortably back in Unity now. This is keyboard heaven compared to Zorin. Efficient and productive, if not so much good-looking or fun.

keyboard shortcuts

new to Zorin11 and linux, i came across this thread with the same question, and then found the path above. After clicking on the desired action "print screen" for example, just hit the command you want to use for it. You may get prompted to reassign the command that was originally set for another generic command.
