Zenlive USB key

Hello,

I'm a newbie on this forum, coming from Slackware.
Few years ago I used Zenwalk with complete satisfaction, and I was disappointed when I saw it was the end ; but now I'm glad to see that the project restart.
So ; I've tried to install Zenlive on a USB by netbootin , dd command, but with no success in both way.
If someone of this community can tell me of to do.
I must precise that, as I'm French, the answer is easier for me to understand in this language ( but I can manage with it otherwise).
Thank everybody.

Zenlive 7.0 usb key

Hello every body !

After a long time I come back with this subject;Ive tried to install zenlive7.0 on a usb key. I've formatted the key as a fat32, and I used the command dd if= etc.... but when I look how is my key, it's said that the partition is unknown.
Does someone know how to install Zenlive 7-0 on a usb key ( 7-0 because my laptop is quite old so it's a 386, so...)
Thank for all, and have a good day.

Zenlive 7.0 usb key

I'm back again,

I've wrote the Zenlive 7-0 on a usb key as said before,; when I go to this key, there is a scipt make_iso.sh , but though I run this script as rootI got the answer :
Quote:
mkisofs: Read-only file system. Error opening boot image file './boot/isolinux/isolinux.bin' for update.
In the folder up the one where is zenlive ( on may usbkey) I find a file zenlive.iso which is only 34,0 Kio !!!!
Except crying I don't know what to do

Hello patounet,
my suggestion is to use the liveslak script made by Alien Bob. It allows you to put on the usb stick a more up to date version of Zenwalk. I succeed with both Zenwalk_8.0 and current.
The procedure I followed is the following (maybe not the most elegant, but it works):
1) make some changes to the make_slackware_live.conf file, at least:
Code:
   SL_VERSION="current" (or 8.0 or whatever)
   SL_REPO="/home/you/zenwalk-repo"
   LIVEDE="ZENLIVE"
   SEQ_CUSTOM="tagfile:a,ap,d,l,n,x,xap,xfce,z"
   DISTRO="Zenwalk"
2) extract the Zenwalk ISO on the SL_REPO local folder
3) change directories names according to the edit you made at the config file. The directory tree should be as follow:
Code:
   {SL_REPO}/|
             |
             |- {DISTRO}64-{SL_VERSION}/|- EFI/
                                        |
                                        |- {DISTRO}64/|- a/
                                        |             |- ap/
                                        |             |- .../
                                        |- isolinux/
                                        |- .../
4) add the generic kernel package (download it from a Slackware repository) to the a/ folder and edit the tagfile adding the row: kernel-generic:REC
5) Since the script looks for some other file not included in the Zenwalk ISO I had to manually add them to the {DISTRO}64-{SL_VERSION}/ folfer:
Code:
   CHANGES_AND_HINTS
   README
   RELEASE_NOTES
   usb-and-pxe-installers/README
I suppose you can simply "touch" them, anyway I took those of the official Slackware.
6) Run make_slackware_live.sh and you'll get the iso in the tmp/ folder.
7) Run iso2usb.sh -i /tmp/your_iso_name.iso -s, insert the usb stick and you are done.
