Hello patounet,
my suggestion is to use the
liveslak script made by Alien Bob. It allows you to put on the usb stick a more up to date version of Zenwalk. I succeed with both Zenwalk_8.0 and current.
The procedure I followed is the following (maybe not the most elegant, but it works):
1) make some changes to the make_slackware_live.conf file, at least:
Code:
SL_VERSION="current" (or 8.0 or whatever)
SL_REPO="/home/you/zenwalk-repo"
LIVEDE="ZENLIVE"
SEQ_CUSTOM="tagfile:a,ap,d,l,n,x,xap,xfce,z"
DISTRO="Zenwalk"
2) extract the Zenwalk ISO on the SL_REPO local folder
3) change directories names according to the edit you made at the config file. The directory tree should be as follow:
Code:
{SL_REPO}/|
|
|- {DISTRO}64-{SL_VERSION}/|- EFI/
|
|- {DISTRO}64/|- a/
| |- ap/
| |- .../
|- isolinux/
|- .../
4) add the generic kernel package (download it from a Slackware repository) to the a/ folder and edit the tagfile adding the row: kernel-generic:REC
5) Since the script looks for some other file not included in the Zenwalk ISO I had to manually add them to the {DISTRO}64-{SL_VERSION}/ folfer:
Code:
CHANGES_AND_HINTS
README
RELEASE_NOTES
usb-and-pxe-installers/README
I suppose you can simply "touch" them, anyway I took those of the official Slackware.
6) Run make_slackware_live.sh and you'll get the iso in the tmp/ folder.
7) Run iso2usb.sh -i /tmp/your_iso_name.iso -s, insert the usb stick and you are done.
