Hi,

Big surprise for old Zenwalkers : I'm going to drop netpkg.

You can use it one last time : "netpkg slapt-get gslapt" and say
goodby.... sniff :(

We only miss dependencies for now, but Stefano is working (hard please)
on this :)

This Synaptic-like system is much more user-friendly and powerful, and
was requested in nearly all Zenwalk reviews.

I hope you'll enjoy :)

JP

btw : I'm away for a mission for 3 days (my silly job,... I'm going to
install 2 of these reverse-proxies called "Axiliance"), Axium please
take a look at mirrors to check if new meta files (PACKAGES.TXT) are
replicated as they should ;)

The above statement worked fine, and Gslapt Package Manager is now in the GUI under System.

I got it installed but downloading doesn't seem to work. It always fails to download packages. I get no error messages when downloading lists just the packages.

Any ideas what I need to do to get it to work?

Thanks

guth, what needs to be done to solve this problem?

guth 09-28-2006 02:02 AM

reload the checksum file (click on "update")

I assume the next version of Zenwalk will just have slapt and no more Netpkg?

Apparently not! It seems Netpkg has a lot of fans out there so both will be included TFN.

This is interesting:
Although gslapt tells me netpkg is not installed, it is because I can still run it on the command line. Not only that, but when I start netpkg this way it says (varies depending on mirror chosen)

Code:

Checking for network connectivity, please wait...
Checking for availability of the dependency file on http://download.zenwalk.org/ i486/current/packages
Checking for availability of the description file on http://download.zenwalk.org /i486/current/packages

then it opens its own window.

I tried zenwalk live cd and it was simple kool. I loved the distro. Thanks to all developers and supports as well. I never worked on xfce b4, but now realised how amazing it is. Any ways ill be installing zenwalk 3 soon. I think zenwalk live cd lacks multimedia applications by default. Anyways its kool distro.
Hats off to all of you there. keepup the good work.
