Having Issues Installing Broadcom 43xx Series Wireless Driver-Zenwalk 6.4

Hey LQ,

I just installed Zenwalk 6.4 on my Dell Latitude D610 laptop. At the moment, I'm having trouble installing the Broadcom 43xx series wireless drivers. I have yet to find any relevant/reliable tutorials as of yet. Could someone please give me a detailed, step-by-step tutorial on how to install these drivers? I'm a Zenwalk newbie, so please go easy on me!

Thanks in advance!

You need to install the packages b43-firmware-4.178.10.4-noarch-64.1.txz and b43_STA-5.100.82.38-i486-2.6.35.11.txz.
After installing those packages you have to blacklist the modules b43 and ssb. Since Zenwalk is based on Slackware I would assume that you have a file blacklist.conf in /etc/modprobe.d/. Edit this file as root and add the entries
Code:

blacklist b43
blacklist ssb

Save the file and restart the system. Now you should be able to use the wireless. I don't know if Zenwalk has a network manager already installed, I would recommend wicd if you don't have one.
