Can newcommers still join the Zenwalk forum?
Hi,
I want to join the Zenwalk forum, even though I do find I am getting excellent help regarding Zenwalk here as well.
Every once in a while for the past few months, I try to register to the forum ( http://support.zenwalk.org/ucp.php?m...gister&coppa=0) but this is what I get:
Code:
Return to the index page
General Error
template->_tpl_load_file(): File ./styles/bo2Soft/template/captcha_qa.html does not exist or is empty
Please notify the board administrator or webmaster: webmaster@tulipe.kergonna.fr
There is no way to register and I tried contacting the webmaster but got no reply. Anyone is a member and knows who to contact for this issue? Is the forum closed to new members?

If they closed the forum to new members, that wouldn't be the way they did it - that's just a misconfigured server (looks like a file's gone missing, or they haven't set up their CAPTCHA properly). However, if it hasn't fixed in a couple of months, and the webmaster's not replying to eir email, it sounds like the community's dead, so joining won't be of much benefit...

Bump!
There is still activity within the forum; as recent as this morning even!!!
But still no way to register due to the template error; basically the bottom half of the form is missing including any save button, and there is no way to scroll down.
Can any members please alert the forum admins. I assume that they have not realised that there is a problem....

Who have you emailed so far? I couldn't get any forum-specific email addresses, so I would email someone on http://www.zenwalk.org/modules/tinyc...index.php?id=6 or even go to the IRC channel they mention on that page, and tell someone there.

Hello Snark1994,
I had email a few key people on that email list but got no reply as well (this was a while back so don't remember exactly who and have no time to check right now. I don't remember if I tried their IRC channel but when I have the time I will try that idea. BTW so you are a member of their forum?

I am not a member either, but I looked up the dns records for zenwalk.org and sent an email to JP.
Finally I was able to sign up on the forum.

Hi,
The Zenwalk forum is still up and running, but we have to face more than 5000 new spambot registrations per day.
So, until a new forum is setup, the registration procedure is to create an account, then post 2 small introduction messages in the welcome area, and once they are approved by moderator : you're a member
Another solution is to send me a PM.
Sorry for this lame complication, no other choice atm
regards
JP

It's not easy to join the Zenwalk forum, I have tried, registered, made some posts, but when I
come back to the site I am unable to login or find my username. I will then register again using
the same username and password, which is accepted as though I never existed before.
When I return again, I find I no longer exist again.
I will try the 2 introductory posts, again.

Yes, I know, and I'm sorry for this.
The support.zenwalk.org forum takes more than 5000 new spam bot registrations per day, and the cleaning script doesn't really make any difference between a bot account and a new user who haven't posted anything yet..
PLease ask here in LQ : it's a more reliable forum.
btw : I'm looking for someone to take care of this... I have no time to handle forum moderation and all related admin tasks...

Thank you JP, I'm sure you have more than enough to keep you busy
BTW I have downloaded and installed the new Zenwalk 8.0 release, very nice, you've done a
good job.
