anyone has been uing zenwalk6.4? how dyou install vlc?


anyone has been uing zenwalk6.4? how dyou install vlc?

i installed it using netpkg but seems not working

What errors does it come up with? If it simply doesn't start from the menu, open a terminal and try to start it from there - that should get you some meaningful error messages.

I suspect that the problem is how Zenwalk splits some files to a restricted repo, since they licencing problems for distribution in some areas.

All I can suggest is that you manually download the deps list and have a look at it. I think the problem is that some of the packages that are needed are in the restricted repo, so Netpkg will not pick them up directly. Unfortunately, I don't know of any easy way of fixing it, other than possibly putting VLC in the restricted repo. Not sure that would work either, since there are some deps which are not restricted.

i tried runing it in terminal and this is the what is says..

The package you should have is this one:

qt-4.6.3_ef2e850-i486-1 which should certainly be in the repo. Its a Slackware package, but one of a number which Zenwalk uses.
