Trying to Dual-boot WinXP/Yoper

I have two 80 gig hard drives set up in a Raid 0 configuration running WinXP on one partition. It is the C: drive and it is NTFS. I want to install Yoper to run as well. I used Partition Magic to create a new partition D: at the end of C:. I have tried making the new partition Ext2 and Ext3, and FAT32, but each time when I insert the cd to begin installation, the installation won't work. In QTParted, the drives are not read correctly. There is an "sda1" and "sda2". sda1 will pop up an error message when I try to select it, and the installation fails there. sda2 will bring up an "empty" partition. The size of this partition is somewhere around 9 gigs, but C: is around 140 gigs and D: is about 7 gigs, so i have no idea what is going on and i don't want to kill my working WinXP system. But I do want to try Yoper and see what all the buzz is about. Can anyone offer some advice, please? Thanks for your time.

EDIT: I did not make the linux partition active. I read from partition magic that if you fail to load the OS that way, then you may not be able to reboot. I don't know if this helps as I am a big Linux newb...

Why make the partitions in Partition Majic.(instead just make unallocated free space)..my suggestion is that is where you want to install Yoper...also you dont have to have a primary partition for Yoper...you can make logical partitions...also in the latest release both qparted and cfdisk ( I used cfdisk) are offered as choice to make your root partition, swap file, and home partition...you have to make sure the type for root and home are set to Type 83 and swap to 82 ....i didnt put a bootable flag for yoper though because i have another distro that is my main distro...and then put yoper in lilo there...so my setup is a bit different..Hope this help you a bit...
