problems w ith mozilla

Hello,

I'm new Yoper user and i feel just great with that

But here is the thing: i have installed new Yoper 2.1, after that i have upgraded system using apt-get (in console mode). That's the moment where i have noticed that something wrong is happening with mozilla (newly installed version 1.7.3)

when i click on for instance such link: domain / file.mpg

i got message like this:
"/tmp/ez6hge3z.mpeg could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server administrator."

The same problem is for instance with torrent files ... how to resolve this problem ?

I'm using Mozilla right now and downloads work.
What I did was download mozilla 1.7.3 from http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/
Click on the mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.7.3-full-installer.tar.gz
Copy the mozilla-installer folder to your home dir
Login as root and cd to the mozilla-installer this is how cd /home/your user account/mozilla-installer
Once in the mozilla-installer folder in the terminal
Type ./mozilla-installer
The install screen loads (follow the steps)

Now if you want you can make life ezer for yourself and install flash and java plugins all you have to do is copy and paste
the old mozilla plugins to the new mozilla plugins dir this is also how I installed the plugins for firefox
Im sorry I don't know the path for that it was done a while back I think the plugins where in the usr/local/mozilla/plugin dir
and BTW I don't know if they where over writen either because I installed firefox first then took the plugins from from mozilla the yoper
shipped. Then I installed Mozilla 1.7.3

This is probably a big no no to most Guru's but it's the only way I knew how at the time.

Umm, try apt-get reinstall mozilla. It may solve the problem.
I think that it may be a permission issue.

While preparing for installation:

mozilla-1.7.3-1
ln: `/usr/lib/mozilla-1.7.3/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so': File exists
error: %post(mozilla-1.7.3-1) scriptlet failed, exit status 1
W: Some errors occurred while running transaction

Maybe this is not so bad option, so far i liked mozilla for it's integration with mail client.
But now, when firefox 1.0 and thunderbird 1.0 has been released, mozilla seams to be backward ... maybe it's time to switch ....

funny seeing as mozilla uses the same engine as firefox. maybe a slightly different sorce code, but it's still basically the same in some respects.

I've always prefered Firefox over any other browser. IE, Konqueror, nutscrape, opera. I just don't like them that much, firefox has done me right for a long time now.

Have you tried removing all mozilla package and reinstall it?
Code:
 # rpm -e mozilla
and
# apt-get install mozilla
Or you may use the installer from mozilla.org.
