no kernel

everytime i try to install yoper i get all the way through to find out that it is trying to boot off of a sym link that is linked to a kernel that is not there. the installation instructions seemed easy enough i dont see why its doing this and i cant use lilo either because if grub is already on there it doesnt get rid of it all the way. can anyoen help me out?

you should be able to remove the bad symlink, and create a new one that points to the right kernel image. I'm not too familliar with Yoper, but last time i had a problem (while trying to install a kernel, I had to do the same thing, on my Debian system.

The symlink was supposed to be: /vmlinuz->/boot/kernel2.4.26-try3
but instead was /vmlinuz->/boot/kernel-2.4.26-bf3 or something similar.

so: # rm /vmlinuz
then: # ln -s /boot/kernel2.4.26-try3 /vmlinuz

Your file names will likely be different, but the concept is tthe same. and if in doubt: # man ln to make sure you get the symlink right

I fought with the same problem for half a week.

In the partition manager, you have to set your "root" partition as active... right click on it, and there's an option called "set as active"

Should help a bit.
