I want to try yoper but I have only access to 56k
Hello-
I would really like to try yoper but.....
I have 56k modem which ducks out after 15 minutes [sometimes more but very unreliable and no it's not my isp it's the crappy phone co.]
But I also really like Fvwm2 and haven't been able to check the yoper.com website [it's down again] to see if apt-get will apt-get it.
And there has got to be a way to get the cd of this without downloading it.
EVEN IF I HAVE TO PAY SOMETHING.
But is there?
Jay

i tried yoper once *shiver*
what makes you so interested in this distro? wouldn't their website being offline 'again' give you some clue as to the stability of their build?
so i'm biased against that distro, but if you really want to buy something, there are other distros available to be bought.
but since you just seem to be looking to move off suse 9, why not find a friend with broadband, and give them a stack of CDs to burn up for you? that way you can see a smattering of the linux world.
but if you're looking for guidance, why not look around on the forums, or ask what people suggest based on what you're looking for? -- people here love to put in their two bits about which system to run...

Knowing [or reading perhaps is more accurate] that interest in yoper is very high right now- it doesn't surprise me that the site goes down or is not accessible when I want to look-
Two years ago I took a look at their site and it was too complicated for the likes of me [Yoper the OS not the site].
It seems as though that has changed.
I don't want to try a 'smattering' I want to try just a few and they all have to be Waaaaaaay smaller than the bloat I find on Win98se or Suse or any of the other main [big] stream distros. I don't need most of what many think of as 'must have' programs and the less the better.
But that said I also don't have the knowledge or time to compile my own version.
Sorry you're down on the distro, though that helps the balance on the forum.

Yoper is on the cover cd of Linux Magazine in the UK.
I'd expect to see it on the cover of a US mag soon enough?
