sO i'm gonna give development a try.
how do you folks upgrade in Yoper samething as if it was debian?
The problem you will find when upgrading via apt is that you have more than one version of Xfree on your system. When you get to the point where you are stuck then log out and reboot. Then launch synaptic it will advise you of the problem which can be resolved by removing the old Xfree. You might find similar things happen with files. Repeat the process until you have it all done. You also will get dropped back to a terminal session. You will have to log in as root and reboot.

synaptic is a GUI for apt, i.e. they perform the same things the exact same way, but synaptic is graphical.

Triple5, you can't upgrade things like XFree and KDE with Synaptic. How can you upgrade a currently running app? That's why your install was stuck, just because it can't install on running X. I learned it hard way, i almost screwed up a whole system trying to upgrade KDE, X and Qt with Synaptic. Log out and do in console as root
Code:
# apt-get update
# apt-get upgrade
You will see, it runs just fine. I recently did it and there is no problem at all (179 packages in less than 30 minutes).

Hi guys,

Just to clarify, the *devel* releases of yoper are for developers to troubleshoot and fix bugs, not really for general consumption.
We had really hoped to have the new servers up a couple of days ago, but the supplier let us down again. It really should be only a few more days to get this sorted out

Cheers

I'm really disappointed in how were being kept informed of the state of yoper.
I sure 2.2 will be up some day but when.
Another missed date. It is not looking good for Yoper....

Zappz says there are problems with suppliers - it is disappointing for us, and probably for Andreas and the rest of the team - but thats the way it goes with PC suppliers as I am sure we all know!
Just hold on for a bit longer and hopefully everything will be back to normal

I've heard Andreas bought the new server and it was to be delivered yesterday.
So hopefully all is on its way.

Any more updates on Yoper's site status? It's the 9th and still no go for the new server.
I hope it is soon... I also think it would be good to have the new release brought out the same day the new server is up.
This way we can all check to see how good they are

unfortunately, delayed until thursday. again, due to shippers error. the next release should still be out within the week i think. on the bright side, it'll have kde 3.3.2, which should make it the most up-to-date distro out there.
