That's the point, who knows what the yoper team is doing, other than the new servers.
I'll be glad when yoper gets back online and things return to normal, but so far all I have seen is a request for donations at the yoper website, and then we shall be back very soon, and now we will be back by dec 4th at the latest. I hope!
So what's the team up to? Building any new apps? Treading water until the new servers are up and running? Scattered to the 4 winds? Installing other distributions of linux? I sure do not know.

i know they are also working on the new version of Yoper , do out real soon (after the transition) , the donations are for Bandwith , and server side stuff . that band with cost's money , and it really costs allot when tons and tons of people bomb your host all at once with requests for the newest iso . so that's wehat happend to the old server it was on a celeron , and it just was getting bombed big time with tons of hit's .
and you know a celeron isent the most reliable thing in the world , expecially when it comes to server stuff , but you gotta use what you have at the moment until you can get better thing's and that's where the donations come in at , with out them it would take 10 times long than it is now ....... but yeah , there rocking out over there and just think 5 more days guy's the forums will be back up

My thoughts exactly. I can't stand Gnome but I figured that I would give it a try. I had only been running it for about 5 minutes and was ready to get rid of it. Hopefully I will be able to replace it with Yoper 2.2 soon

Don't know what the rest of us have been doing, but I have built a few rpms :-) Ok - nothing too exciting, but I have been learning how to do it during the out time. Well worth a go - and surprisingly easy if you pick a fairly simple app :-) Looking forward to the forum getting back on line - I have a few questions about the less straightforward rpm builds for the guys who know what to do ;-)
Oh! And yesterday, I handed over my motherboard/processor/ram etc to my daughter - and received her parts in exchange. A 2800XP Athlon and 768mb of DDR ram for a Duron 800 and 384mb of PC100 ram! I must be mad! There is method in this though - now I can treat myself to a new load of kit ;-)
PS - Yoper running well on this Duron! I am impressed - it was lousy when it had Windoze on it!

no. yoper is not going anywhere.
and i dont understand why everyone is making such a big deal over v 2.2. ya, its a little later than expected but once the servers are up, its smooth sailing. ive been running 2.2 devel for a while now and no problems at all. and the final will be even better.

Same with me , and i agree . i think it's a little pointless to keep nudging and nudging , i meen it's perfectly fine at the moment , and look at it this way , atleast it's not like windows and takes 5 years for a new version , i think some peeps need to learn patince or how to wait a tad longer .

I can't run 2.2 devel, once it installs it doesn't detect my keyboard So I'm sort of waiting for it to go non-beta.

which keyboard you have?
i was getting problems with mine but found a way to manually edit - it just might work for you also.
on KDE / Gnome there are settings
that failing you could go either /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/xkb/* <-- cant remember which file!
i guess it could be resolved without much sweat.

Naw, I can't even log in! And it's just a microsoft standard keyboard that every other distro I have used works fine with.

You can get the development version from any of the mirrors. You just have to dig a little bit.
Here is a download from a US based mirror: http://yoper.bsdnut.org/yoper/devel/...86-2.2.0-3.iso
if you just go to: http://yoper.bsdnut.org/yoper/devel/
There is also a gnome based version.
I'm guessing it's the same at all the other mirrors as well.

It's now December 5th and yoper.com still doesn't have the new servers up.
I'm really disappointed in how were being kept informed of the state of yoper.
I sure 2.2 will be up some day but when.

And I just gave 2.1 another try lastnight, and when installing I couldn't install aptitude, so I went via synaptic smart upgrade and after the 123 downloads, it stood stuck in the Xfree86 when is the installing part I went to sleep woke up 12hrs later and still there, canceled it and it won't go into my desktop but it does show the login =\
sO i'm gonna give development a try.
how do you folks upgrade in Yoper samething as if it was debian?
