VL6.0 copy/paste to VI window help

Hi,

I just resurrected an old piece of hardware (128MB/P4 box) with VL6.0 and am very impressed with the ease of setup and performance. I just have one nagging issue I haven't make any progress with.

I can't copy (or highlight) text from an application like Firefox and paste (using middle mouse - Scroll) into an instance of VI (VIM7.1) running in xterm or gnome-terminal. Some other text gets pasted instead of what I highlighted last.

I tried installing autocutsel but it made no difference. Seems to work fine when copy/pasting to/from an xterm or gnome-terminal. Not sure what's going on with applications.

I'm not sure if it's a VIM setting that's causing this or maybe something else. Sorry if this is answered before. Can someone explain it? I haven't found any clues.

Thanks in advance.

OK, I just switched to GVIM instead and my cut/paste problems are over. I haven't had this problem with the console version of VIM before but... oh-well. Posting if anyone needs.
