VectorLinux and Sound (xine issues)

OK, I've been from Mandrake to Gentoo to Unbuntu to Arch and now to VectorLinux. Please don't make me go to another distro after this!!!

OK, well, thank God that Sound works.....partly. I've got an issue with Kaffine and it saying that "All Audio Drivers failed to initalize". I know that my Sound Card (Ensonique AudioPCI 128) has been detected by the Kernel and by ALSA because the background noises that VectorLinux emits when maximising windows, exiting programs, etc. WORKS! However, It has a problem with playing music\sound from any Multimedia application because, presumably, the Background noises of Vector are hogging the sound daemon. How can I make it so two or more applications can use the sound daemon at once?
