some kind of mouse glitch?

im a linux noob... so bear with me...

im running vector linux..., when trying to load x, im constantly crashing, then its running halt all and kill all commands and shutting down the entire system... atleast from what i can catch on its way down.. but what im noticing is the mouse control isnt working right from the initial splash gui screen. any movement of the mouse, and it recenters at the lower left corner of the screen; and will do so about every 1/2 second. any thoughts?

reconfigure X. i think vector should have xf86config, right? if not, post your hardware and your XF86Config file.

If you're not into editing the xf86config , but want to use VASM instead , I recommend you do this from the prompt.
Running VASM in X the first time , tends to mess the system.
If you browse the VL-Forums , you'll find , there's a fix for that(by Kocil).
