Is it at all possible that the kernel you choose is not on the cd, but another kernel is? I've had installation trouble with Fedora Core 2 'cos it offered install option that were not on the cds I had. Can you see the necessary binaries/rpms/whatever on the cd?

Hmmmm.....
Strange...

During install , you get the change to have the media checked. Did you skip that perhaps?
Else : Could you post your machine's specs?
Is the CDRom-drive properly set in your BIOS?(Can you boot from it , that is)
(Dunno if this could be an issue: ) Do you happen to run the CDRom fom a DVD-player?

Hmm...
From your specs , I gather your CD-drive is a rewriter.
Did you , by chance , us a rewritable disc to burn the distro?
I experienced a few problems with those myself; not being able to boot from a rewritable being the most prevalent one.
If this is the case , you might want to burn the ISO on a simple recordable and than try it again.
