If you like Slackware, Get Vector Linux SOHO 4.0
I have been lurking about reading alot about Vector Linux. I have loved Slackware since I first installed it but wasn't too crazy about all of the "post Install" work that went in to it. I think anyone wanting to try Slackware should download Vector Linux SOHO 4.0. It is absolutely amazing. While it inslatted it looked like Slackware's install program but asked many many more questions. It asked me if I wanted to play DVD's on drive /dev/hdd and installed all od the drivers and codecs needed to play DVD's out of the box. It also started the NVIDIA 3d setup during install and got that running. Additionally, it included openoffice and a great set of admin tools. Samba configuration is better in this distro than any of the big boys. Its actually easier to configure Samba in Vector than it is in RH9. Its like Slackware - simplified. Anyway, I have been a distro junkie for the past few mos and may have found my favorite distro. Its still Slackware through and through. I can still use Swaret to upgrade and install.

So, if you have been interested in trying Slackware but were afraid of it, Get Vectorlinux 4.0 SOHO edition and you will love it.

Point of caution ; The ISO , available at the moment , is the RC1 ; This is a "Testing-ground" release and already came up with a couple o'bugs , we need to take care off before the final release.
("We" as in : Vector , Tigger , Kocil , etcetera ; the real devs. I'm just trying to keep the MB tidy , while scoffing occasionally at the KDE-stuff...)

What kind of bugs have you found? I noticed that the KPackage manager wouldn't do anything after it asked me for my Root Password. I just shut it down and downloaded Swaret.

The other one was this: during install, it asked me if I used my DVD player to view dvd movies. I answered yes and it said it configured it. It wouldn't play so I checked the fstab and there was no entry for the dvd drive. I added the line and made a mnt/dvd directory and it worked like a charm after that.

Anyway, I love it and am thrilled with your distro. I plan to purchase the final copy to "give back".

At the moment I'm too lazy to type 'em all out , so I give you the URL to the thread on the VL-Forums , dealing with the SOHO-release: "SOHO-Bugreport"
