Has anyone else had Firefox crash on them using the packaged app in VL 5.1 Standard?

I will be logged into yahoomail and when I click on a mail message link the browser crashes.

The browser version is 1.0.4

The browsers also crashes in other instances where I am clicking on a link after searching in google.

yeah.. i got that problem too.. I am not sure why. I installed vector linux onto Pentium Celeron 266MHZ, 15GB Hdd, 64MB SDRAM.. Everything seems running smoothly until I use firefox. Then my vector linux became sluggish. I can see my hdd working very hard when I am using firefox. Any suggestion guys?..

My solution was to log into root and vslapt-get firefox 1.5

Although I still experience some issues with the browser crashing on sites with a lot of dynamic adds.

I haven't really given the problem that much attention since it is not mission critical to me yet.

I have just installed Vector SOHO 5.1.1 which includes Firefox 1.5. Firefox occasionally works, but mostly it just sits there doing nothing when I request a web page. Konqueror works fine all the time. If I request a web page in Firefox, and nothing happens, then open Konqueror and request the same page (which works OK), then go back to the Firefox window, I find that Firefox has also now found the page (usually - but not every time).

The difference is that you are using SOHO probably with KDE. I am using Standard with ICEwm. I have reported the issue to firefox but who know when they will fix the Vector 5.1 issues? There are other browsers available...maybe I will install them. Dillo however does not make the grade in my book. Perhaps it is time to try Opera.
