What is it that makes Ultra X Linux so "Ultra Fast" and "Ultra Reliable?"
It's been asked a lot, and I haven't seen any answers really, so I'll ask again. What is the concept behind Ultra X Linux? There is no 'about' section on the site, and the wiki is empty, so . . . Does anyone know?
Does anyone run Ultra X Linux and care to throw in some info here? I am really very curious and just want to know. The most useful info that I can divine from what I have seen is that, whatever it is that is unique about this distro, the prefix "ultra" definitely applies, which is a mightily cool prefix. |
It appears that the differences are mentioned in this post.
Frankly, this looks to be just a customized version of Ubuntu, some different compile options on the kernel, slimmed down base install, and a few custom scripts. I would also hate to pass judgment too early, but from the Ultra X page I am willing to bet this project is pretty much dead (last update I can find on the site is from May 22). It makes you wonder what exactly the requirements are on LQ for getting your own distribution forum... |
