Ultra X Linux is a new Linux distribution built on the solid structure of Ubuntu. It is powered by a modified kernel which delivers a better performance than Ubuntu itself.

An interesting addition is represented by the tmpclear feature – an innovative way to automatically solve issues related with X0-lock errors determined by incorrect installation of certain drivers when you deploy Ubuntu.

The Linux kernel version used is 2.6.24-16.30 and the results of Ubuntu tuning are reflected in a faster speed and an extended support for a larger variety of applications. Ultra X Linux is shipped with an unique GNOME desktop out of the box, but tweaks for KDE support can also be performed.

Gotta be really fast, or then meant for really slow computers, because I don't see how you could get it so much faster than Ubuntu that a completely new distribution was needed. If there are really big (in a good way) differences, good, but if it's just a new kernel and a tweak or two, I had rather written a howto or contacted Ubuntu and that way 'paid back' for the goodness than just cloned it with a new name.

Anyway, good luck with it---I might give it a try later on..
