XUBUNTU Display

hi all, i just installed XUbuntu on an aloder Sony (P200, 64 MB RAM - i can find out for sure if someone gives me th elinx command to find out).

anyway, it installed OK, but the screen alternates between lighter vertical lines and darker vertical lines - giving it a kind of wavy effect. the width of the alternating lines is about a centimeter or so.

the closest analog example are those alternating color accounting sheets that give a visual break to repeating data.

is there any way i can resolve this? it isn't too bad of an effect, but it is slightly annoying.

thanks.

Hmmm sounds like your refresh rate could be messed up. Why don't you set the exact monitor values in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and reboot to see if it helps?

thanks for the tip - i hit auto-adjust on the monitor itself and it now looks very nice.
