xine was unable to initialize any audio drivers

I am running kubuntu 2.6.24.19-generic x86_64. I get this error upon every boot and can not play any audio.

"xine was unable to initialize any audio drivers"

Out of the five similar posts I have found this one is closest to what I am experiencing:

I installed libxine1-plugins because it was missing but it did not fix anything.

My user account is a member of 'audio'.

Any pointers would be appreciated!

Possibly Find a Driver from a Live Puppy Linux CD.

Puppy almost always finds a driver for audio on loading up ar "Set-Up" and if the audio works, you can copy the driver it uses, get it and try it.
Good Luck, Michael
