xampp and phpmyadmin not working
I just downloaded and installed xampp via apt-get Everything supposedly worked fine no errors, no broken packages. I type in http://localhost in the URL bar of firefox and i get the page "It Works!". great! I say, I then type in localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php and I get "Page Not Found!" All I can figure out is either phpmyadmin is not functioning(even though there were no problems with install) or Apache doesn't know where it is. Maybe a config file somewhere I need to alter?
Thanks, Paul |
In general Xampp is nice on windows, but on a recent Linux distro everything you need for a LAMP server is already there.
But anyway : 1. Check if it's xampp's apache page you are seeing and not maybe a apache version which got installed with your distro. 2. Same for mysql I would maybe use the archive from apachefriends http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html to install xampp and not your distro's package manager, as it may install xampp to uncommon places or interfere with apache/mysql/phpmyadmin/php maybe already installed . The installer from AF is a ready made structure you can put anywhere on your computer and it should just work. Oh, and Xampp is not working on pure 64bit distros as it's 32bit only ! |

yw, I personally don't touch all this clickbuntu stuff :) but I guess you can install the 32bit layer to make it run . (ia32-libs ?!)
Or, if you have apache and mysql in place, just download phpmyadmin from sourceforge uncompress it into htdocs/phpmyadmin. The recent versions seem to run without a configuration file at all, but even if you need one, there should be a config.inc.php-example coming with it. It takes not more than 10 minutes to install phpmyadmin and get it running ! |
