Wubi Ubuntu install from download problem - Install files not found
 
Hello - I am trying to install Ubuntu on my Toshiba Satellite 5205-S703 laptop with WinXP Home. The CD/DVD drive no longer works so I have to use the download installer. In fact, I hope to install Ubuntu to help me determine whether the CD/DVD problems are hardware or software related. The computer has no provision to boot from USB either. The download went fine, but as soon as installation started this error message popped up: "An error occured. Could not retrieve the required files. For more information, please see the log file: c:\docume~1\toshiba\locals~1\temp\wubi-10.04.1-rev190.log". I looked at the log and its contents are way above my pay grade. I can post it if that would help. Thanks!

That would be a good idea.
Look for a line

or something similar.

Make sure you have the correct wubi.exe version.
You can get the 10.04 wubi.exe from the ISO itself
