I have a US Robotics wireless card. In short I cannot connect to the internet. I type in the network name and cannot connect. How can I sort out this problem?
I also have a sound blaster 24bit sound card which runs a 6.1 speaker system. This card is not working even though it has been detected. How can I get sound working?
I am a little confused with the wireless problem as I had my internet working when I ran kubuntu.
im not a help with the wireless issue but for the sound issue is it the only sound card installed on pc? is there an onboard soundcard? if there is another or onboard sound card disable it. to disable an onboard sound card go into bios and turn it off.
Kubuntu is now giving me a message this morning which keeps on popping up on the screen annoyingly.
"error while initializing the sound driver.
device: defult can't be opened for playback (device or recource busy).
The sound system will continue using the null output device."
Nothing was running when this message came up over and over again. How can I sort this problem out?
My sound system was working last night which was strange as previously it was not working. Now it is not working again and is giving me error messages.
Please can somebody help! An OS is useless when I cannot listen to music when I work!
I am running on kubuntu, I was running ubuntu but I did not like it.
the only difference is ubuntu has gnome and kubuntu has KDE but with ubuntu you can install kde and kubuntu you can install gnome also there are a few other choices in desktop enviornments such as xfce, fluxbox, blackbox, windowmaker, and some more that you can use.
now as for sound issues ive only run into that when i had both soundcards running at same time seemed the onboard card was running and since i had speakers hooked to my soundblaster and not the onboard card it said the drivers were busy. try just pulling speakers out of one card and putting it in the other see if the onboard gives output.
