Wine logs me out

I'm trying to use wine on a friend's pc with feisty 7.04 64 bit version installed.

I follewed these instructions ( http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb ), but when i launch for example wine iview.exe ( in order to install irfan view, just to try ) or even winemine ( the built in winmine ) the screen blanks and i suddenly obtain the login screen.

Using wine &>log.txt:

wine: creating configuration directory '/home/______/.wine'...
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

'/home/______/.wine' is writable, i have even tried to create it but nothing changes.

What can it be?

ps:Note that i use wine ( from source ) on my 32 bit machine without troubles.

Tya.

Wine isn't logging you out, it's crashing your X-server, which trashes your entire session. You get can deliberately kill the X-session with crtl+alt+backspace and get the same effect.

I don't know what to suggest, except to try different versions of wine. It could be a new bug or something. I think the 64-bit versions are a bit less stable anyway, since wine is only designed to support 32-bit windows applications right now.

Thank you, i have understood.

Before upgrading to feisty wine reported an error ( no opengl or no dri, something like that ), now this one.

So i think it's a graphic driver problem. Pc isn't mine, but iirc it has a sis integrated gfx card, i'll grab the xorg.conf when i'll use it.

Searching wine crashes X, i have found 2 suggestions:

Quote:
In the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file i comment (#) Load glx, and now some aplications working, but warcraft 3 not.
Quote:
well with a little bit of googling i managed to fix it...and yes it seems to be a problem with the ati drivers and how they handle DGA...marbin...try editing the wine config file and set "Use DGA" to "N"...that worked wonders for me
But i believe this last one is outdated.

I have tried 5 minutes on that pc.

Using xorg via driver, even commenting out glx, still crashes X.

Using vesa wine works.
