Windows (XP) on Ubuntu with VMWare Server
 
seems to run very nice, but for the life of me, i can't get xp browser to surf the net

i've tried what i know and i still cant get it to connect to the net

any ideas please..

Try VirtualBox instead,It is easier to use than VMWare I think .

Please be more specific about the nature of the network connectivity problem you are having. Both vmware and vbox assign the vm an option for connecting to the internet. Using Vmware, which is very easy, you probably want "Bridged" or "NAT" for your emulated ethernet card under "Edit Virtual Machine Setting".

i guess using vmware would be much easier with the NAT option enabled, it just works out-of-the-box, i've been using this for quite some time now, without any issues.
