Window Manager doesn't work after Feisty Upgrade

I just upgraded my laptop from 6.10 to 7.04. Upgrade went well; however when I booted the laptop today I seem to have lost my windows manager. There is no way to manage window size. The buttons for maximize/minimize/close normally at the top right aren't there. When I go to System/Preferences/Windows I get the following message: Cannot start the preferences application for your window manager. Window Manager "Unknown" has not registered a configuration tool"

I reinstalled Metacity but it had no effect.

Any suggestions?

Did some more research, found answer in another forum. Metacity was obviously not running for some reason. Opened a terminal window and typed "metacity". All back to normal.
