Will Ubuntu work with this laptop hardware?

I am buying Toshiba L355D-S7825 in order to get a reasonable laptop on a tight budget. I plan to put Ubuntu on after kicking around various distros. There are 2 pieces of hardware that have me concerned based on other posts.
  1. Atheros Wireless LAN (802.11b/g)
  2. Graphics: ATI RADEON X1250 128-831MB dynamically allocated shared

Will Ubuntu work ok with this wireless card and this graphics chip set?

All Details:
  • Processor: AMD Turion™ X2 2.0GHz
  • Display Type: 17" WXGA+ widescreen TFT-LCD (1440 x 900)
  • System Memory (RAM): 3GB PC5300 DDR2 SDRAM
  • Hard Drive Type: Serial ATA (5400 rpm) 250GB
  • Optical Drive: Double-layer DVD±RW/CD-RW 4x DVD+R DL; 4x DVD-R DL; 8x8x8 DVD+RW; 8x6x8 DVD-RW; 5x DVD-RAM; 24x16x24 CD-RW
  • Digital Media Reader or Slots: Yes, digital media card reader
  • Graphics: ATI RADEON X1250 128-831MB dynamically allocated shared
  • Networking: Built-in 10/100 Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)
  • Wireless Networking: Wireless-B+G
  • Speakers: Built-in stereo
  • PCMCIA Slots: 1 ExpressCard/34/54
  • USB 2.0 Ports: 3

The best way to find out is to boot the live CDROM and take it for a spin. Below is a thread on how to work around a video incompatibility. I don't think you'll have a problem, though.

As for the wireless card, I think you can enter your network key with the live CDROM and surf the 'net slowly. The next thread isn't an answer, but it seems to suggest that your network hardware is supported.

Atheros *typically* is easy to get working w/ Madwifi, but a lot of it depends on which Atheros device it is... Easiest way to figure that out, is boot the live CD, run lspci in a terminal, then post the output here...

The info in that thread for the Atheros AR242x, is a bit dated... with 8.10, you can simply install the linux backport modules, and it will work just fine..
