wifi connection problems after upgrade to Hardy (chip: BCM4318)

Hallo,

I've just upgraded from gutsy to hardy, but the upgrade caused my wi-fi connection stops working.

At the end of the upgrade process, clicking on the "nn-applet" on the upper panel, I could see a lot of active wi-fi connection, at the end of the list there was mine home one and I tried to activate it but....it doesn't work anymore, no IP address assigned, not linked to the router.!!

I selecteted my wifi connection but nothing work, I can only see the available connection list, but nothing more.

I've tried to install the b43-fwcutter but the system ask me to insert the CD labeled: " Ubuntu 8.04 _Hardy Heron_ - Release i386 (20080423)" but my (original) cd is labeled "Ubuntu 8.04 i386 " and the system do not accept the CD on the player...so no b43-fwcutter installed

what shuld I do to activate my conection???

Another thought ... can you configure synaptic to accept your installation CD? Check in Synaptic the to see how it describes your CD in Settings->Repositories.

It looks as if you need the wifi driver off the CD to get the wireless network active.
