Post why is the wine program in Ubuntu fail to work?

hello,
when I try to use a windows program through on ubuntu,
It does not function. why?

wrong forum.
run winecfg (or was it wineconfig) press ok
then type wine <program>.exe

Does it even start? Do other programs (preferably simple ones like notepad) work? Try to run
wine programname
You should get some more diagnostic, maybe even an error message.

First question what you're trying too install. Not all work you know.
