When's the next LTS?
Just wanted to know when the next LTS release is going to be, if they're planning it yet.
I'm not a fan of upgrading every six months. It's just too much trouble, in my opinion. I'd much rather set up my desktop and update it in three years. I guess I'm just used to the windows way.
Another thing:
6.06.1 was a good release. I liked it. But there's no multimedia support like in Fesity Fawn; so I install Automatix. Yes, bad idea, we knows. Any idea on how to erase its tracks? I don't want to end up with a bjork'ed system when trying to upgrade.
One more thing: Are Debian binaries still fully compatible with Ubuntu ones? I've been thinking of migrating to Etch, because of the "Tried and True" mentality of Debian Stable, but I don't want to end up with problems related to missing packages.
Cheers,
Joro.

To my knowledge, Feisty Fawn has the exact same media support as Dapper. You still have to install libdvdcss, w32codecs, etc... If you suspect Automatix will cause problems when you upgrade(and from what I read, its very possible), Why not just do a clean install and ditch automatix on the new setup? I've put Automatix on a couple peoples PC, and its worked fine, I used it with Dapper, it was fine. I think most of the problems with it, seem to come when upgrading. Before upgrading, you can try uninstalling automatix, then removing the repository from your sources list. Then try your upgrade..
YMMV.

The next LTS release hasn't been chosen yet, but it will may (or may not) be gutsy+1 7.10. Though it could be as late as 9.04 (as that's when the LTS on the desktop runs out)
