What are all these names dapper, easy and breezy that are in this forum?

If so what is the latest release?

they use both. names and numbers. it's very common really, debian always did it and unbuntu are just copying them. most distro's use release names, hell, microsoft always do it too, but it's never as relevant. it's only in the silly debian worlds where people seem to think their installation is akin to a small child they care for where names matter to the user.

I tend to agree on the naming - what is wrong with a simple version number. IMNSHO, Dapper Drake sounds like Gay Duck, Fiesty Fawn sounds like Horny Deer ... Also, what is with the Debian idea of naming everything after Toy Story? Wasn't that released ages ago? Can't they think of a better naming scheme?
Anyway, Ubuntus version numbers are Year.Month. So the latest is 6.10 (Edgy Eft), which was released in October 2006. The previous release was 6.06 (Dapper Drake). The next release will be 7.04 (Fiesty Fawn).

I have to agree that they are horrible names. The only one that is apt is Sid (The boy next door who breaks toys)
potato = Mr Potato Head
woody = The cowboy
sarge = The sargent of the plastic army men
lenny = The binoculars
I can only hope and pray that they run out of characters in Toy Story ...

you make it sound like i don't know my toy story... shame on you. i'm waiting for "slotted pig" to be released. and of course it's "Mr Potato Head", not "Potato"

Flatulent Ferret
Can't wait for "Whimpering Walrus", can you?
