Angry Vuze / Azureus 3 works fine, but won't update to 4

When i installed the Vuze/Azureus program, i assumed that it was the final.. but after i started it, an upadted showed up..

The update-plugin got installed and the update 4.0.0.4 got downloaded.

The question to restart the program "so the update could get installed" also showed up..

ofcourse i accepted..

But every F-bomb time i start the F-bomb program, the F-bomb update comes around... IT DOESN'T GET UPDATED...

The Azureus2.jar is located in /usr/share/java/, but i can't replace it with the new update manually...

Can anyone help me?

friendly greetings, E. de Zeeuw

Hmm, if you installed vuze from the repositories, its binaries will be protected from regular users. This means that, as long as you run as a regular user, you will be able to accept updates offered directly from the application BUT the security restrictions of the OS will quietly refuse to follow up. In order to solve this, you need to start vuze from the terminal using sudo.
I know this is rather confusing, I also needed some time to figure out wtf was wrong with those updates. Vuze seems to be written with windows in mind so there are bound to be some conflicts if it is installed on a platform that has a logic of its own.

One time again:
  1. Find the Terminal
  2. Type sudo vuze
