volume problem with sbx00 azalia

Okay, so I went through a nightmare of a sound problem. Now that is fixed and I have sound but it is way too quiet. I can barely hear it when it is turned all the way up. What now? I finally got this card to work with alsaconf which I had to compile from source. I also noticed that probe Legacy ISA non pnp was an option. In vista my sound driver was called legacy HD so I suspect there is a second card that is high def. I tried that option though and it gave me:

Building card database..
