Virtual term login displayed between usplash and automatic login...

This is a minor annoyance but I'm wondering if anyone would be able to help me with a resolution.

I have a minimal Ubuntu installation that I configured to auto login after usplash. Between the autologin and Usplash the virtual terminal login tty1 pops up for a second. This also occurs during restart and shutdown.

Could anyone point me in the right direction?
