Video is choppy; need to enable DRI - HOW???

I have a Via EPIA M1000 (CLE266 chipset) which is having issues w/ video playback. Getting choppy video so playback is not viewable. I am currently using the latest Openchrome driver, also tried Unichrome. Problem seems to be with DRI not loading; so MPEG-2 Hardware Accelerator is not working.. Can SOMEONE PLEASE help with this. All threads I have came accross have broken links - suggesting I patch the kernel!

Thanks in advance

Code:
MythFrontend:~$ uname -r
2.6.22-14-generic

MythFrontend:~$ glxinfo | grep rendering
direct rendering: No
OpenFL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect

XORG.conf (snippet)
Section "Module"
        Load "dbe"
        Load "extmod"
        Load "fbdevhw"
        load "glx"
        Load "record"
        Load "freetype"
        Load "type1"
        load "dri"
EndSection

We need more of your xorg.conf file.

Particularly the device section for your video card, and the DRI section.

Section "dri"
Mode 0666
EndSection

I think you need to add "load via" to that modules section - but it is looking like you cannot get HW DRI with openchrome.

From the man page:
Quote:
3D direct rendering is available using experimental drivers from Mesa (www.mesa3d.org). There is also an XvMC client library for hardware acceleration of MPEG1/MPEG2 decoding (available on the CLE266, PM/N800, K8M/N800, and CN400 chipsets) that uses the Direct Rendering Infrastructure (DRI). The XvMC client library implements a non-standard "VLD" extension to the XvMC standard. The current Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) kernel module is available at dri.sourceforge.net.
You can try loading the XvMC libs. for mpeg1/2 decoding.

Believe it or not, but I got it working loading a precompiled script... Playback is GREAT after disabling 3D.

Anyone else having an issue, I HIGHLY recommend the installation above.. and for NOOBs

Download openchrome-stable.sh
chmod +rwx openchrome-stable.sh
./openchrome-stable.sh
"Y" to all fields

Is your Via EPIA M1000 (CLE266 chipset) a frontend only installation?

I'm looking at boards that use the VIA chipsets (Mini ITX boards) as a small frontend to my MythTV system. I'm hoping to find something that can handle high def using XvMC.

How'd you decide to use the M1000? Any knowledge or advise on the other VIA chipsets motherboards? Would you buy the same board today if you ere in the market?
