v.7.10

The angels are rejoicing as I have just installed Ubuntu v.7.10. Oh,wow, 184 updates are now being downloaded and installed. This is exciting. I can't wait to see how much better the installed version is than the live version. It is already easier to work with than Red Hat v.7.3. LMAO

I am surprised at how much better my hardware works than with SUse 9.3.Now I just have to get all the Firefox plug-ins working.

I was just thinking and I would like some input from an administrator or moderator. Being as how I am a newb or n00b, and a non-geek which some may appreciate. Would it be possible or wise to start an ongoing blog as I learn and discover the many wonderful things I have read that I can do with linux, so that those who are making the switch will not feel like they are quite so lost? I would only be submitting Ubuntu related entries as this is the only distro I am using at the moment.

Congratulations.

Well, Linux has evolved a bit since Suse 9.3 so it's not surprising it should work better now.

You could put your experience to good use by going throught the LinuxQuestions Ubuntu forum once a day and answering any questions that you know the answer to.

Jailbait's recommendation is a good one. A blog would be ok, but how many people do you think would hit your site? You could also contribute your knowledge to the LDP (Linux Documentation Project), or similar well-known sites.

For myself, I built a private online notekeeping system, which keeps many of my learned Linux insights, and which I can access from anywhere I've got an Internet connection. Unfortunately, I pretty much suck at taking notes! :D

All LQ members get their own blogs - go to http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/blog/doondoon and start blogging! (for anyone else, substitute doondoon at the end of that url for your own user name)

Thank you Mr.P,
I was planning on using the available "my Blog". We will see how it goes. If it looks like something worth reading I'll link it to my signature at the bottom of each forum post.Since I can't add to the blog by going back and editing it, I will keep the title the same for each Ubuntu related blog I submit. There will, however be no misspelling in the title of future blogs KOW.
Happy hacking

I've tried Kubuntu 7.10 on my laptop. The only problem I've found (unless there's a fix out there I haven't seen) is that there seems to be a problem with not being able to install/change themes for splash-screens and kdmthemes. It seems more like a permission problem (to me at least). I have Slackware 12.1 running on my Desktop and I can install themes and change themes just fine with it.

Other than that, I haven't found any other bugs. And it is a trivial problem unless you're like me and like to change the look of things... A LOT!
