USB device naming problem
I have 2 USB storage devices, and would like them to automount

The problem is, the naming scheme is never consistent. When plugged in, the devices are called (pick any) /dev/sda /dev/sda1, /dev/sdb , /dev/sdb1, even /dev/sdc

How to I get the first USB device that I plug in to map to /dev/sda, and the second to map to /dev/sdb? Further more, if /dev/sda is gone but /dev/sdb remains, if another device is plugged in, it should be called /dev/sda. Help would be appreciated.

Open the /etc/fstab.
Use the volume label to spcified the devices rather than these file.
