USB and Firewire devices not detecting

Hi,

I installed Ubuntu last week. Am liking it very much except for onr\e thing.
Its just not detecting my USB devices. When I plugged in my digital camera there was no response so I opened gThumb to download the photos and It says no camera detected. even after selecting my camera in the list.

Next I tried to hook up my iPod in the fire wire port again no reponse.

Did some research on google and found a post that suggest to add user in the plugdev group, No response even after this.

Please help me to get my camera recognized.

TIA

do a `lsmod' and tell me if the usb-ohci, ehci-hcd, and/or usbcore modules are loaded. if they are, you may just have to manually configure your digital camera (these would be the drivers that are loaded provided you have usb2.0)

Hi,

not pretty sure but your camera is maybe detected but not mounted.

Like all other usb devices, you should probably have a mount point to get things working.

Try to plug your camera before turning on the computer, the device manager will probably find something for you.
