Upgraded to newer Pentium D, no more SMP

I had a 2.66 GHz 820 and I've upgraded to a 930 running at 3.0 GHz. Now, though, I get this message from dmesg:
SMP alternatives: switching to UP code

I see only one processor, confirmed by System Monitor. The old Pentium D worked fine.

uname -a:
Linux panther 2.6.17-10-386 #2 Tue Dec 5 22:26:18 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux

Setup: Asus P5WD2-Premium rev 0606 with 1024 MB PC2-4300 memory.

BIOS detects the correct processor and both cores. What can I do to resolve this in Ubuntu?

Thanks!

-Paxton

Doesn't look like the kernel is a SMP kernel. Run this command: 'cat /proc/cpuinfo' and copy & paste the output here.

Assuming Ubuntu is running a Debian Kernel, there is no longer a separate -smp kernel. All Debian kernels are -smp aware.
