i have had 6.10 since it came out, so i can say that my computer is customized to just the way i like it. i was wondering when feisty comes out if it was even worth the upgrade. will i lose my current settings? or will my current setup remain the same? does upgrading add a lot of unnecessary bulk and left over files from the previous version, making the best option a fresh install? let me know what you think.

The final release of 7.04 will be out in a week or two. I did an upgrade from 6.06 to 6.10 using the Ubuntu recommended method and it worked very well. While a beta, I clean installed 7.04 in a different partition to experiment while still having a 6.10 fall back. I've never gone back. 7.04 is so much better than 6.10 in speed and in hardware support. Now when you try to play media for which you don't have a codec it will offered to install it for you. I decided to configure the new release to my requirements instead of upgrading. You can also copy old /home directory to the 7.04 install. I wouldn't be uncomfortable upgrading from 6.10 to 7.04 if I used the Ubuntu prescribed method.
